Guntur Sannam S4 (The All-Rounder)

Sannam S4 is one of the highest-volume, most globally recognized chilli varieties from India. It represents a more balanced profile.

Pungency: Medium-to-high (35,000 to 45,000 SHU).
Colour Value: Good, deep red (70 to 90 ASTA).
Skin and shape: Thick & glossy skin; smooth, sturdy surface that holds up well without crumbling easily. Long, slender, and moderately curved. It grows to about 5–15 cm and traditionally resembles the shape of a goat’s horn.

Teja S17 (The Heat King)

This is arguably the most preferred Indian chilli variety. It is famous for its intense, sharp heat.

Pungency: Extremely high (around 65,000 to 85,000 SHU on the Scoville Scale).
Colour Value: Moderate (around 50 to 70 ASTA colour units).
Skin and shape: Thin & smooth skin; remains relatively flat and wrinkle-free even when completely dried. Short, thin, and slender. It is the smallest of the three (4–7 cm) and features a sharp, pointed tip

Byadgi (The Colour Specialist Kashmir chillis)

Grown in INDIA Byadgi chillies are occasionally included in shipments to Indonesia, specifically when deep, vibrant red colouring is preferred over raw heat.

Colour Value: Exceptionally high (130 to 150+ ASTA).
Skin and Shape: Thin but highly wrinkled skin; characteristically shrivelled with a deeply crinkled, matte texture. Very long and tapering. Can grow up to 12–15 cm.

Armour Chilli

Armour is highly valued because it retains its color and pungency exceptionally well when placed in cold storage—a massive advantage for international transit and long-term warehousing.

Pungency (Heat Level): 70,000 to 75,000 SHU. This puts it nearly on par with Teja S17, meaning it qualifies as a high-heat chilli.
Colour Value: 80 to 90 ASTA. It produces a rich, vibrant, deep red tone when ground.
Skin & Shape: The pods are typically long, narrow (around 7 to 9 cm), and feature a slightly wrinkled, semi-rough surface structure.

5531 Chilli

5531 is visually striking and physically robust, making it highly attractive for international container shipments.

Pungency (Heat Level): 35,000 to 50,000 SHU. This puts it squarely in the medium-to-high heat category. It is vastly hotter than traditional Byadgi variants (which hover under 15,000 SHU) but smoother and less aggressive than Teja S17.
Colour Value: 140 to 160 ASTA. This is exceptionally high. It produces a brilliant, rosy, deep bright red colour that immediately elevates the visual appeal of food products.
Skin Type: Long pods (typically 12 to 15 cm) with a medium wrinkled texture.
